About the author

I grew up in a small town in south Texas.  I graduated with a degree in Manufacturing Engineering and work brought me to Houston where I have lived most of my adult life and currently reside with my beautiful amazing wife and two extraordinary sons.

I used to listen to sports radio every morning on my commute to work.  Several years ago my office location moved temporarily, which extended my commute.  It was at this point that I started questioning if there was a better way to pass my time during my commute than listening to sports radio.  Not that I didn’t enjoy it, but at least to me it was getting old and not providing much other than information to make good conversation about sports, probably because I was listening to so much of it. Eventually I started looking into audio books.  Since I already had an Amazon Prime account, I gave Audible a try and they had some books available for free for Prime customers.  I ended up finding a book called NO EXCUSES! by Brian Tracy and decided to give it a try.  I never would have thought at that point that one decision would have changed my course in life.

It’s not that the book was so great that it had a profound impact in my life, but it started getting me on this new level of growth mindset.  I wanted to learn more and more. By the time I was on my sixth or seventh book, and listening to podcasts on interviews of some very interesting people, I started thinking how I could better retain what I was learning, after all it was a lot of information I was taking in. This took me to looking into starting to teach on what I was learning.

No, I did not consider changing my profession to teaching, although I’m sure I would find it very fulfilling. During my journey of wanting to learn more, I ran into blog sites and so I thought, why not start a blog site where I can write about what I learn. It would help me in better retain the information by writing about it, and best of all I would be sharing what I’ve learned. And so I did it, which is why this site exists today.

I have to admit I was not sure what I was getting myself into when I started the site. But once I started sharing my posts with my family, especially the stories I was writing, I was convinced that this would be something I would be doing for a long time to come.

Know that I do not write about the topics on this site because I consider myself an expert on them, I am trying to figure things out and learning these things as much as the person reading them. But I do take great care in what I write about. And because I’m a strong believer in what people like Steve Jobs have done by taking existing parts from different sources and combining them into something greater than the sum of its parts, I’m always looking to see what great information is out there and making sure to share it if it’s a common theme from different sources, and looking to see if it can be combined to make something even greater.

I am here to teach; I am here to learn.
