Moving Forward

Moving Forward

Your moving along in your journey and come up to a cliff in your path.  You can clearly see the other side, not too far away, and can clearly see that there is no other way to get to it.  You start approaching the cliff, to see if you can jump to the other side.  As you step closer, fear kicks in.  You start getting nervous.  You get close enough to see what’s below and when you see there’s nothing for hundreds of feet, every part of your body starts telling you to back up.  Your heart starts racing, your body starts sweating.  You back up. You decide to make some type of bridge with what you can get your hands on, tree trunk, vines, etc.. You complete your bridge and set it in place. As you put your first foot on the bridge, fear kicks in once again. You start putting your full weight on that foot to get ready to move the other on the bridge, and once again every part of your body starts telling you to back up. Your heart starts racing, your body starts sweating. Why? Because there are still some things you don’t know. You did the best you could with the bridge but you’re not completely sure it will work and you’re not completely sure if you can hold your balance. So what do you do? How do you overcome that fear to keep moving forward? Is it courage? No, courage alone wouldn’t take you far. What is it then? What can make you keep moving forward despite not having all the answer, despite not having absolute certainty.

It’s faith.
