What Are You Stressing Out About?

What Are You Stressing Out About?

If you find yourself stressing out about things like missing a sale at your favorite store or about your favorite TV show being cancelled, about losing a parking spot that’s four cars closer than other empty spots, about why a certain person didn’t “like” the picture you posted on Facebook; if you’re stressing out about any of these things, chances are you don’t have much going on in your life.

OK, lets let that sink in a little before moving on…… To be clear, I’m not saying never to stress out about anything or that stress is bad.  In fact there have been studies that have found that if you actually view stress as something positive that will make you stronger, versus something that will kill you, it will actually not bring you any harm and actually be helpful to you instead.  But regardless, stress does consume energy and can drain you so don’t use it up on little things that in the end don’t really have an impact in your life.  Instead, go out and find something that can have a significant positive impact on your life, pursue it, and if it doesn’t start going the way you would like, then stress out about that until you plow through!

Note: I got the idea for this post from the book The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F@#! by Mark MansonI have to admit that I had come across this book many times before and never bothered to pick it up, but after reading it I found myself asking why I didn’t bother to look into before.  This is a great book, and don’t let the title mislead you, the author is not promoting not caring about anything and goes much deeper than just this topic.
